Bodypoint’s Adaptation to COVID-19
Across the globe, COVID-19 has presented many challenges and has changed the way we live our everyday lives and do our work. Washington State was an early COVID hot spot, which compelled Bodypoint to take quick and decisive action to safeguard the health of our employees. These actions have not only kept us safe as COVID continues to spread, but allowed us to keep manufacturing and delivering products. By working as a cohesive group and supporting one another Bodypoint continues to thrive!

Staying connected while working from home

Over the last 11 months, state mandates have made social distancing a new daily norm. All Bodypoint employees that are able to work from home have been doing so since late March 2020 – almost a year now! This allows us to preserve our health and prevent the spread of the virus, while keeping our focus on our work.

Despite the distance, many have felt that there’s been an improvement in our communication. The use of Zoom video calls has made meetings quick and easy, and enables us to remain engaged and productive. It also allows us to see each other's faces no matter where we are physically located. In addition to departmental and project team Zoom calls throughout the day, we all come together on a Zoom call every morning. These video calls also give us a chance to be a little creative! We have hosted a number of themed Zoom calls, like the ones pictured here.

Working from home has its advantages!

In addition to reducing the risk of spreading the coronavirus and improving how we communicate, many have found other benefits of working from home. Here is what a few Bodypoint employees said they like most about it:
“After commuting a long distance for 6 years, it’s been a refreshing change to not spend 3-4 hours each day in the car.” – Tyler Calvi, Marketing Coordinator

“Eating lunches from home means I get to cook more.” – Nicholas Franzen, Quality Manager

“Having access to my Nespresso machine all day for copious amounts of iced coffee and being able to turn up my music to get me motivated.” – Kim Edwards, Senior Accountant

“Sharing the office with my two cats, Oliver and Alexis.  They keep me company all day, every day, and sometimes even try to help me type!”  – Natalie Beauchene, Marketing Manager

“Easy access to my favorite snacks.” – Haylee Bash, Customer Account Representative,

“Going for walks around my neighborhood in the summertime!” – Bin Ma, Product Manager

“Increase in productivity. The ability to work and use technology more effectively to reach people in webinars and meetings... What used to require travel is easily accomplished over video conference, which is a more efficient and people are becoming accustomed to using it. I have expanded my ability to reach people nationally and globally.” – Lori Lizotte, Director of US Sales

“Besides enjoying the non-existent commute, I have a view of the outdoors from home which includes trees! Also, being able to wear yoga pants, undetectable in Zoom meetings, is a comfortable perk!” – Charlotte Moore, Director of Account Management
Reduced traffic, quiet commutes and new health precautions at the office

Some roles at Bodypoint cannot be done from home, including our manufacturing and shipping. Those who go into the office on a regular basis have experienced a number of new changes as well.

Many safety measures have been put in place to ensure our employees have a safe and healthy work environment. Staggered schedules and breaks reduce the amount of employee interactions, and increased sanitization of work and shared spaces reduce the risk when interactions occur. Workstations have been adjusted to maintain a 6 ft distance between employees at all times, and all aisles have been made one-way to further decrease any unnecessary interactions.

Perhaps most importantly, we’ve been checking in with each employee to make sure they are feeling well each day and monitoring their temperature at the beginning and end of every shift. Additionally, all employees have been given tools like face masks, sanitizer, and other personal protection equipment (PPE) to keep themselves healthy.

Those of us who commute to the office have noticed many changes around the neighborhood as well! Reduced traffic and abundant free parking have made the process of commuting more enjoyable. Crowded streets are now vacant, and when the Seahawks play next door at Lumen Field (formerly CenturyLink Field), no fans occupy the seats. Restaurants, small businesses and even our next-door Starbucks have closed their doors due to a lack of patronage.

Despite this quiet existence, Bodypoint has continued to persevere. By acting quickly, adapting, and working together, we have been able to ensure that our customers do not experience any interruptions in service. We have increased our level of on-hand raw materials and finished goods to meet any increase in customer demands or issues with our supply chain, and our Customer Service team is still standing by and ready to assist you! As people are starting to get vaccinated, hope is on the horizon, and we look forward to the day when we can be closer to our friends, family, and customers again!
